A safe choice for the life & pharma industry
Silicone is a polymer composed mainly of silicon. The starting material from which silicones are produced is silicon dioxide, common in sandstone, beach sand and quartz. Silicon dioxide is also widely used in glass production. Silicone can thus have different physical forms, such as oils, gels and solids and is therefore a very versatile type of rubber that can be used in many applications where large working temperature ranges, stability, resistance etc. are required. VMQ (High Consistency Silicones) are used for food, pharmaceutical and medical applications.

Silicone - A material with many benefits
Stability & Resistance
Due to their polymeric molecular structure, silicones acquire properties that make them resistant to a wide range of temperatures: from -55 °C to 300 °C depending on the formulation. Its stability against the harmful effects of sunlight, moisture, ozone and various chemicals makes it useful for many applications.
Flexibility
Silicone resists large deformations and vibrations and is used with excellent results in confined spaces, for example. By adding additives to the silicone, the properties of the material can be modified, providing a wide range of possibilities for specific applications.
Purity
Silicone is an odourless and colourless rubber. As mentioned above, the curing of silicones with platinum enables them for food, medical and pharmaceutical use. For optimum purity where 0 impurities are required, some application-specific silicones are processed in ISO 7 rooms, where the internal environment is constantly cleaned from external substances that may affect the silicone. This allows the products to comply with both FDA - USP Class VI regulations.
Sustainability
Silicone is one of the materials that provides the greatest resistance to ozone, oxygen, moisture, sunlight and chemicals. In terms of working conditions, they can withstand high working pressures over long periods and a wide range of temperatures. The material retains elasticity, suppleness and flexibility as well as tensile strength for a long time.
PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY
Silicone tubing for the food and pharmaceutical industries
Below are silicone hoses that meet the requirements of the food and pharmaceutical industries. Due to the purity and flexibility of the silicone hoses, resistance to silicone oil and, above all, antimicrobial action are obtained. Silicones with added additives to increase antimicrobial activity are used to advantage in medical applications to prevent the spread of infections that could have been transmitted in tubing made of other materials. The silicone material is odourless, colourless and has defoaming properties. An inert material.
